Susan Falcon-Hargraves commissioned pet portraits
EXCITING NEWS!
Susan Falcon-Hargraves has been selected to feature two of her works at The Artrom Gallery in Rome. The "Top Ten" show, comprised of previous winners, will run for two months beginning on November 30, 2011. She will be traveling to Rome to give an artist's talk on Wednesday, January 11th.

ABOUT PET PORTRAITS
A fine art portrait of your best friend (or of the two of you together) is a wonderful way to honor the years of unconditional love and devotion you’ve shared, and makes a very special gift that will be treasured for years to come.

Working from a single photo or any combination of photos, Susan Falcon-Hargraves can create a custom work of art just for you, capturing the very special essence that makes your beloved friend one of a kind.

And because 10% of all sales of pet portraits will be donated to local animal shelters and rescue groups, you know that your portrait is also a gift to other less fortunate animals, affording them a chance at a happier life.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
There is often an element of mystery in a good portrait, an untold history that the artist tries to honor and that the viewer can only guess at. I always seem to fall in love with my subjects, to feel as if I’m somehow channeling spirits onto canvas.

I take a great deal of care in the way that I interpret the images entrusted to me, and with each piece strive to create a vibrant work of art that not only delivers a credible likeness, but perhaps reveals some aspect of the essential nature of the subject.

All of the above holds true for my pet portraits as well, although there the element of mystery is usually less of a factor because animals are so completely open and truthful in their nonverbal communication, telling all with their eyes.

For me the challenge of pet portraits lies in the task of capturing the pure innocence and openness that allows the unique spirit of each animal to shine through.
